I'd been asked by Cow in Sheffield to put together a wall mural piece that takes up the stair case of the store. It was a cool project to work on mostly because they gave me full creative freedom to do what I wanted on their wall, but admittedly I stuck close to what I was comfortable with. This time I wanted to add more elements in the piece so you'd notice there are plenty of mini stories dotted around the wall space.

Window Dressing In Rotherham

For the past month I've been working with the Stars in Stripes group to decorate a space in the center of Rotherham. It's been a bit of a hectic month with the baltic weather and adverse snowy conditions, that coupled with hassle on the train line, other than that we've worked hard and covered many windows in a space that spans 6000 square meters.

The project has come from ROAR (Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance) who initially asked us to decorate on the windows with our illustration work. Peter Martin who has been our correspondent in turn has also given us the opportunity to curate our first group show in January for a duration of a couple of weeks, something which is a huge task but surely achieveable.

Drawing on the window spaces has required the use of acrylic paints, emulsion and Posca pens which have helped out a lot. If you want to see the full report, click here.

Ninja Cat

I've recently repainted a smaller mural in the Hantu Workshop this month and chanced upon an inspiring idea. I want to draw ninjas and samurais again just like when I was back in college and university. I've managed to create my first character, who I will simply name Ninja Cat for now.

Here's another attempt at my new feline character during live art at Kool Beans, a night that was held at the Bowery. I've been looking for new approaches to work on for the new year as I have a solo show in the Forum around February time. Ideas have now popped into my head and I guess I'll keep them to myself until I get to work on them...

Hair Kandi Post

The lovely people at Hair Kandi have written a nice post about me on their website. Thinking back to that the launch party it was a good laugh and I'd be well up for looking at more live wall decorating in the future... Suppose when I have more time that is!

Hair Kandi Wall Murals

There's a relatively new Hair Salon in Sheffield by the name of Hair Kandi, well it used to be on Ecclesall Road but now has moved to the city centre of West Street. The owner's Dave and Sara commissioned me to draw pieces on 2 separate walls, the main reception area and the hair wash area where they play films on projector and use a wall as the screen. The Projector wall area was very fun to do and as they gave me free reign I was able to mull over some ideas for a week and just get down to drawing.

The second piece was intended to be drawn live during their launch party, which to me was a scary prospect, what if I fell down from my perch, or smudged so badly I couldn't disguise it... luckily I didn't fall or fail and managed to produce one of the most proudest pieces I've ever come up with. It was more or less a re drawn portrait of my friend Alex Godwin and again one of my favourite pieces.

Kelham Riverside Mural

Here are some pics from my week long project that was at Kelham Riverside down at Kelham Island. An area once known for its industrial quarter and mostly known now for its award winning brewed ales! The area itself has been looking at regeneration with new flats and offices being built for young professionals and creatives to occupy the space.


Ledgard Jepson brought me on board again to design a mural and draw/ paint it onto a wall covering 48 square meters. Pretty big and it required a bit of scaffold climbing. Admittedly, I had to direct my style more towards a general look and feel to it but managed to keep some degree of my style within the piece. Either way it was a lot of fun, can't wait to see what the office actually looks like when it's finished.

JDA Office Walls

It's been weeks since I'd completed the wall mural work at JDA but I've been so behind on updating the blog. JDA Marketing are based in the Shipley area of Leeds and can boast big clients such as Halifax in their portfolio. I was asked to come in and draw a mural on their main office and also dot some characters and illustrations in their recreational room. I had a lot of fun doing this, especially hiding illustrations on corners and above plug sockets etc.

Ledgard Jepson Wall Art Video

I'd forgotten to upload this to the blog, but here's the video footage of the day I spent at Ledgard Jepson's studio doodling away on a perfectly pristine white wall. Why they allow me to do such thing I do not know, but its great fun none the less!

This Is Chemistry Wall Mural

The past week I've been in Bradford for 2 days drawing on the walls of This Is Chemistry, a PR and Design agency with a beautiful studio space and wonderful friendly staff.

The idea behind the illustrations on the walls are based around process and robots as fun decor for clients and staff to enjoy, I've certainly enjoyed doodling away for them even though I've mashed up most of my sharpies pen collection. Oh well. I've never drawn such intricate scenes before on such big spaces but it is a lot of fun and offers me room to add in hidden extras and easter eggs for people to spot.

I still have another 2 days to complete the job with one more wall illustration to start and to add spots of colour to rest of them. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!

DQ Wall Mural Video

Finally managed to put together my video footage of the time I was painting the inside of DQ. Be it 2 minutes on film, it'd taken me something like 10 days to complete the job inside DQ. Big thanks to my pal Mat Atkinson for providing another pair of arms for painting!

Robots In Disguise

I've been approached by design and promotion agency, This Is Chemistry to produce a series of wall art for their offices, covering the studio, accounts and meeting room. The brief was simple they've asked for my own ideas based around the theme of robots and something that is a bit epic and lovely to look at in the background as they work away. Heres a sneak preview on one of the concepts I've been putting together from my sketchbook to Adobe Illustrator.
