Blogging from the iPhone

Well I thought I had to try it out...

The city of Sheffield is either hibernating or in anticipation for the new years celebrations. Either way I'm bored out of my skull in the shop...

So here's a quick sketch I'm working on for the new collection still searching for those knock out designs...

Live Drawing Write Up by Sam Brewster

The old rascal Sam Brewtser published a post about Live Drawing on Creative Boom Sheffield. You can read my ramblings about it all on here

Long live Live Art.

Robots In Disguise

I've been approached by design and promotion agency, This Is Chemistry to produce a series of wall art for their offices, covering the studio, accounts and meeting room. The brief was simple they've asked for my own ideas based around the theme of robots and something that is a bit epic and lovely to look at in the background as they work away. Heres a sneak preview on one of the concepts I've been putting together from my sketchbook to Adobe Illustrator.

Music Music Music

I'm sat at my desk trying to complete some commission work before the year is out but I can't help but faff about on the net for more music to listen to. Pitchfork.com presented me with a "best Albums of 2009" post so I've been indulging all morning and even watching videos.

This one has to be one of my faves so far!

Hand Of Man

Fellow illustrator Sam Brewster has been busy this year with his editorial commissions and his self publication which some of us have contributed towards. The first zine in the Hand of Man series is aptly named, "Nature" to which all of the illustrations submitted have been based around organic and natural forms.

Other illustrators such as Lee Bamforth and Jake Binns are amongst the creatives who have work in the zine. Keep a look out for it around Sheffield on counters and if you're lucky enough, maybe a mail out!

Ill Blogging...

So I've been struck down this weekend with some bug or whatever you want to call it. And being bed ridden isn't fun, especially when I'm used to be doing things all the time. But I guess I've been able to stay productive all thanks to having a laptop.

The website has been updated after hours of squinting at my dim screen but I finally got there. All from the comfort ( and discomfort ) of my bed.

Some good news though, as fellow graphic designer Chris Smith rung me up today to ask if I would be available to illustrate for Plug nightclub posters once a month as of next year.

Having work around the corner is always good.

Photoshoot Pics

Still waiting to get my hands on the CD for the shoot, but James Brown from iso25.co.uk has been working hard post producing the shots. I love the washed out look and I'm proud of the models we picked for the shoot.

Expect more photos and updates on my website and the Hantu Collective online shop soon.

Here are a few images I've been collaborating on with stylist Natasha Lyons and fashion photographer James Brown. Both of them I've found have been brilliant to work with and last night I went on my first photoshoot for the new Hantu Collection. Be sure to check out their websites! These images were fun for me to work into, it reminded me of watching "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" merging illustrative world with real, this could be something that I will explore more in the future.

Fine line...

Finally the white markers arrived so I was able to work some more detail in my secret big project. I'm sure some of you who live in Sheffield recognise where this is anyway. Hopefully it'll be finished by this Monday! Phew...

New Hantu Winter Collection Part 2...

I didn't get to upload these the other day but here's a little extra, just so we don't look like we ignore the girls! My personal favourite is the White vest with the bear! Rawr indeed.

New Hantu Winter Collection

I got the prints back this week for the new Winter Collection. These will be updated on the online shop soon, keep your peepers open!

A sneak preview of a semi-secret project, still yet to be finished...

Phuture Motion

I'd been asked by Dan Mager of Phuture Motion to produce some artwork for their upcoming debut album. This is my first Music packaging job so I kind of jumped at the chance. Phuture Motion have a latin beat sound to them but with a lot breakbeats much to the sounds of many Ninja tunes artists and so forth. After hearing their stuff I thought my style would definetly suit their sound and so hopefully next year we'll be seeing/ hearing the first presses! here's a couple of screen shots as to how it looks so far.

Buy My T-shirt Please!

Well I'm no sales man so I hope the design itself will sell on its own merit. After all, we all want our designs to speak for themselves and not have us have to talk our way out of corners...

Anyhoo this design is up for sale for a month fat the price of £12 and then the price will raise to £15 after that. The T-shirts which sell the most within that period of time will win a cash prize, which I wouldn't mind getting my hands on!

New Bungalows & Bears gig Poster

I've recently discovered that for a year, my Don't Panic Poster Design has been selling great.... in Thailand... without my permission or knowledge, it took a clever facebook photo tag to discover this violation of my work and I'm annoyed. I'd track down the fools but... its Thailand, it'd take some great detective work ( and maybe a grant from Channel 4 and documentary crew to film the whole thing ) for anything to happen.

Yet I feel strangely flattered at the same time. Weird.

Do Your Best/ Do Your Worst

Heres one of the images from my recent collaborative exhibition with Jane Faram. " Do Your Best/ Do Your Worst" was pretty fun, it was the simple case of sending eachother half completed collages for the other to finish off. This one is the title piece of the collection, theres 11 in total and currently on show in The Forum, in Sheffield. Have a peep if you fancy. Hopefully I'll get some kind of online gallery working with that, just can't seem to find the time these days, no surprise there...

The Bowery

Here's a small selection of flyers and posters I've been putting together for The Bowery in Sheffield.

So true...

Pretty much the story of my life since finishing university...

Like what seems to be the rest of the world, I'd joined Twitter... not really understanding what its about, or maybe I don't see the inner genius of it all. As far as I know you just leave statuses on it, and people can read them. Much like a facebook account but this one is just for statuses.

I'm currently following Stephen Fry but I guess I'm too much of a small fry for him to take notice of me... *sniff*

find me on Twitter: getaloadageo

Jonny Wan

I've known this geezer for quite some years and I'm happy to see he's back in Sheffield so I can meet him for coffees again. Nice.

Click here and look at his illustration work, he's had clients I could only dream of having and he's on a different playing level. Brilliant character illustrations with nice colour palettes, vectored to a sharp quality. His typography work ain't too bad either.

Welcome To The Arcade

Unless you don't already know I'm currently residing within Arcade, a new shop on Devonshire Street. We've been opened since July and seeing things picking up recently with the students back.

I've been involved with looking after The Hantu Collective label and printing workshop in the back room and it's been fun (and a little hectic). Me and other artist Jay and Asmahan have also put our personal touch into the shop and painted the walls, drawing big has never been more fun really.

Next time you take a trip to the Forum then you'll be able to spot us opposite Ark. Come by and admire the art, clothes and homeware we have in store.

Plug over.

My T-Shirt In The Top Ten of Swish Swosh

I'm pretty happy to announce I've made it in the top ten at Swishswosh.com with my "Love Games" design. It was the design I was hoping would make it, as I'm sure there are many game geeks out there like me who see what I tried to do with this.

For a whole month they will count the sales for the tees and who ever has the most hits will win some cash prize money... heres hoping I get a whiff of that.

An epic day out

I'd recommend to any one a trip up to the peak district, rock hopping is definetly a fun past time!

SOYO & Endless Artspace night

Another live drawing piece completed. I think this took me 3 hours in total to complete...

Doodling on trainers

One of my many recent commissions..

Friday, 19 June 2009

Took me about 3 hours to draw on 2m of lining paper. I quite like this but next time I'll add some colour to it.

Love Games t-shirt design

I'm proud of this design... Tad bit geeky though! Make sure you vote for it at www.swishswosh.com

Dont Panic

This is one of the dispensers that holds Don't Panic envelopes, I've been asked to draw on a couple, lucky me :-)
